The firm was established by Ron Cook and Art Roberts in 1970. Since
that time our growth has been carefully orchestrated by the addition
of lawyers handpicked to augment our existing areas of practice.
We have selected individuals who manifest the firms commitment
to hard work, professional integrity and legal skill.
We recently merged with Alexander Greene, another long established
and well respected law practice in Victoria. As a result, with 20
lawyers we are now the citys largest law firm.
Our lawyers enjoy the support of an excellent staff of experienced
and committed legal assistants, as well as a highly customized system
of state of the art technology.
We occupy the 7th floor of the CIBC building in the epicentre of
the city. Our premises have been specifically designed to meet the
requirements of the members of our firm, as well as those of our
clients.
Our lawyers are recognized leaders in their preferred areas of
practice. Four of our lawyers have been distinguished with appointments
as Queens Counsel. In addition, a number of our lawyers enjoy
the Martindale-Hubbell AV rating which is based on peer lawyer evaluations.
Our lawyers also participate in a number of important professional
associations as outlined on their individual profiles.
At Cook Roberts we have specifically designed our legal services
to apply well beyond the geographical confines of Victoria and Vancouver
Island. Accordingly, we regularly represent clients throughout British
Columbia, as well as in other provinces, the United States and abroad.
We enjoy a very diversified client base emanating both from the
private and public sectors. We number amongst our clients, many
of whom have been with us since the inception of our firm, individuals,
family groups, closely held companies, complex corporate structures,
Crown agencies and government.
Cook Roberts handles legal cases ranging from the relatively simple
to the highly complex. The legal services we provide include cases
involving land/business law, corporate law, estate planning and probate, trusts,
bankruptcy and insolvency, family law, and government
law. In addition to handling the litigation aspects of cases of
this nature, our litigation department also handles disputes involving
personal injury, fraud, wrongful dismissal, leaky condominiums,
and construction law. Our litigators also regularly deal with cases
involving administrative law, appellate practice, and constitutional
law.
Our firms commitment is to handle each case, large or small,
promptly, with care, professional integrity and legal skill in a
cost-effective manner so as to achieve the best possible result
for our clients.
